        Q: What are the standard specifications for basalt fiber currently used in roads? How is it recommended in these important standard specifications?
        R: The State, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Housing have separately issued six national standards and five industry standards for basalt fiber, and local standards and norms have been issued in various regions.
        The China Highway Society, as a group standard pilot unit, has also publicized the draft of the two group standards for the basalt fiber construction technical guide, which is expected to be officially released in October and November this year.

        Introduction
        Basalt fiber is an inorganic fiber produced from natural volcanic rock and is a pure natural green fiber. Basalt fiber is provided with high tensile strength, shear strength and elastic modulus, good chemical stability, anti-aging, acid and alkali resistance, high temperature and low temperature resistance, thermal insulation and electrical insulation, and sound insulation and etc.
        Chopped basalt fibers for cement concrete and mortar are chopped from continuous basalt fibers. Adding chopped basalt fiber to cement concrete and mortar can reduce early cracks in concrete and mortar, improve anti-seepage, crack resistance and impact resistance, corrosion resistance, durability and reduce the brittleness coefficient of concrete and mortar. Moreover, the construction performance is good, the fiber is easy to disperse when mixed with cement concrete or mortar, the volume is stable, and the workability is good. Therefore, the chopped basalt fiber has good crack resistance, toughening and strengthening effect on concrete and mortar. Currently, it is widely used in China''''s key projects such as water conservancy, transportation, military industry and construction, and has achieved obvious social and economic benefits.

        The standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, signs, ex-factory, packaging, transportation, storage, etc. of chopped basalt fiber for cement concrete and mortar.
        The standard is applicable to short lengths less than 50mm, which can be added in cement concrete or mortar before cement concrete or mortar mixing or in the process of mixing, to improve the performance of fresh concrete and mortar, hardened concrete and mortar.

        This section is applicable to the continuous basalt fiber which is made through the short cutting machine as the main raw material. It is mainly used to strengthen basalt chopped fibers of cement concrete, cement mortar, asphalt concrete and asphalt mortar. Other uses can be used as a reference.

        Ⅰ. Scope:
        This section of JT/T776 specifies the model, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of basalt fiber unidirectional cloth.
        This section is applicable to basalt fiber unidirectional cloth which is made of basalt fiber roving as the main raw material and adhered (sewn) only after the roving of the basalt fiber is applied in parallel. It is mainly used for reinforcement and reinforcement of highway engineering structures. Other uses of basalt fiber unidirectional fabric can be used as a reference.

         Part Ⅲ: Basalt fiber geo-grids
        Ⅰ. Scope:
        This section of JT/T776 specifies the model, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of basalt fiber geo-grids.
        This section is applicable to basalt fiber geo-grids which is woven and surface treated with basalt fiber roving as the main raw material. It is mainly used to enhance the crack resistance and durability of the road surface. Other purposes can be used as a reference.

        Ⅰ. Scope:
        This section of JT/T776 specifies the classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of basalt fiber composite ribs.
        This section is applicable to basalt fiber rods which are made of basalt fiber roving as the main raw material, and the fused roving bundle after being dipped under a certain tension through a special thermoforming mold. It is mainly used for highway engineering. Other purposes can be used as a reference.

        Ⅰ. General
        Ⅰ.Ⅰ In order to standardize the technical requirements for the application of basalt fiber in asphalt pavement, as well as to unify the design, construction and quality acceptance criteria, this guide is specially formulated.
        Ⅰ.Ⅱ Basalt fiber is suitable for all grades of asphalt pavements which were built, rebuilt and expanded in China.
        Article descriptions: Basalt fiber can significantly improve the high temperature stability, low temperature crack resistance and fatigue resistance of asphalt mixture. Referring to the existing engineering experience and application, this guide proposes that basalt fiber is suitable for new or modified asphalt pavements of various grades of highways, urban roads, airport roads, and port roads.
        Ⅰ.Ⅲ Basalt fiber can be used for various surface layers of asphalt pavement or other structural functional layers.
        Article descriptions: The basalt fiber is suitable for the upper layer, the middle layer and the lower layer of the asphalt pavement, and can also be used for a functional layer such as a stress absorbing layer.
        Ⅰ.Ⅳ The guideline defines the production, transportation, storage and other aspects of basalt fiber asphalt mixture, as well as the quality control standards during the construction and construction of basalt fiber asphalt concrete pavement.
